Welcome to the South Lansingburgh Community Watch website. The South Lansingburgh area takes pride in our community. We are working very hard to eliminate crime and drugs from our streets. The City of Troy is working side by sie with the local Community Watch Programs. Without working together, these problems will continue to exist. The Community Watch Program currently meets on the third Wednesday of every month at the Police Sub-Station on the corners of 108th Street and 5 th Avnue. However, these meeting arrangements will be changed soon. Information has come about that the Police Sub-Station has been sold. No further information regarding this is available to me at this point. I have spoken with Mr. Lewis of The Core Church. Mr. Lewis has offered for The Core Church to be used as a meeting space. I plan to speak with Mr. Lewis further on this issue. When more details are available, information will be passed along.

     I have been thinking constantly about ideas for the Community Watch Program. I have thought about pulling together a Sponsorship for local business owners. An amount would be set in place. Then, I could approach the business owners about the opportunity to sponsor their local program. The sponsorship fees would cover printing costs and any other expenses that may arise. Also, I thought that it would be a very good idea to create a newsletter for our section. In the newsletter, we could acknowledge one business each month as the "Business of the Month." The flies that come out in that month would carry the name  "Businessof the Month" in big, bold letters. This would bring advertisement to the local business owners. I think that these ideas are very much worth discussing. I would like to bring this to a vote or to make some kind of decision on this very soon. All opinions are welcome and appreciated.

      A Community Watch Program is a very serious issue. It isn't something that you can do once in a while. Since I have been put in charge of our section, I have been paying alot more attention to the things going on around me. I have noticed alot of things that I never noticed before. There is alot of wonderful information out there for these programs. I wasn't aware of the amounts of useful information. I will share what pages I have at the next meeting. There are so many websites devoted strictly to the issues we are dealing with. This site will carry some very useful links that you can access. Research is one of the best forms of education. I have spent many hours searching for new ideas. In the end, I hope all of this information pays off.
